Preps You Can Do While the Kids Are Asleep

Having kids doesn't mean you can't prep. I say this a lot, but I feel like it needs to be reinforced as much as possible. Just because you're a mom doesn't mean you can't stock up on supplies, learn new skills, and basically ensure your family stays safe during natural and economic disasters. In fact, being a mom should be all the more motivating for you to get started!

One of the toughest things about prepping with little kids, though, is finding time when the kids aren't awake and underfoot. Don't get me wrong: I adore my little monkeys. Sometimes, though, there are things you need to do on your own. Whether you want to work on improving your running endurance or figure out how to throw knives, sometimes it's best to work on stuff while the kids are napping.

If you're wondering what you'll actually have time to do, though, here are three preps you can work on while your kids nap.

Getting in shape is a great way to prep for anything. Being fit means you'll be more able to easily walk long distances if you get stranded somewhere and it means you'll be less likely to develop obesity-related health problems. Why not use nap time as an opportunity to walk on your treadmill or do a quick workout?

If it's difficult to can with little ones running around - and depending on the age of your kids, it might be impossible - consider canning during their naps. You'll be able to get some good work done and stock your pantry in the process.

One of my favorite things to work on while the kids nap is planning. Why not plan your grocery list, your pantry list, or a list of things you can do to prep? Why not plan how you'll fix your house or repair your car? Why not work on ideas for your bug out bags? The choices are endless!

What about you? What preps do you work on most frequently when your kids are asleep?
